BILLINGS, Mont. — Lydia Harvey of Poulsbo is one of eight equestrians to receive the 2012 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association National All-Academic Award.

Harvey is a student at Rocky Mountain College and is in her third year with the equestrian team. She is a 2010 graduate of West Sound Academy. The award recognizes the individual academic achievements of participating undergraduate IHSA members each year.

Christi Brown, Rocky Mountain College equestrian studies instructor and IHSA Equestrian Team coach, nominated the members who have participated in two regular seasons of IHSA competitions.

“At Rocky Mountain College, our students have their priorities straight,” Brown said. “They excel not only in competitions, but also in the classroom.”

All-Academic First Team Award winners achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.8 or higher.

All-Academic Second Team Award winners achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

The IHSA show season starts Oct. 13-14. Rocky Mountain College will host the first three western shows at the Intermountain Equestrian Center.

Rocky Mountain College will compete against the University of Montana, University of Montana-Western, Montana State University, Carroll College, the College of Southern Idaho and Utah State University.
