County Health District to reduce number of in-person food worker card classes

Published 11:40 am Friday, August 26, 2011

The Kitsap County Health District will reduce the number of in-person food worker card classes it offers beginning next month due to the popularity of the online classes that started in May.

The District currently offers in-person classes five to 10 times a week and beginning Sept. 1, it will offer them three to four times a week. The reduction of in-person classes will save the district about $9,000 annually.

In order to work in foood service, employees are required by the state to take a class and pass a test every two years to prove they know how to handle and prepare food safely.

The new schedule is on the county website.
