North Kitsap’s Zach Fohn moving on to state
North Kitsap High School’s Zach Fohn will move on to the Class 3A boys state tennis tournament after placing fourth at the West Central District tournament Saturday. The state tournament takes place May 28 and 29 at the Vancouver Tennis Center.
Kingston’s Sander and Shuey qualify for state
Kingston High boys tennis players Richie Sander and Trevor Shuey qualified for the Class 2A state tournament after placing second at the West Central District tournament Saturday at Auburn High School. The state tournament takes place May 28 and 29 at the Nordstrom Tennis Center at the University of Washington in Seattle.
Kingston girls out at districts
The Kingston High girls tennis team wrapped up the 2010 season at the West Central District tournament Friday and Saturday at Auburn High School. Three doubles teams and one singles player reached the district tournament, but none qualified for the state meet.

North Kitsap sending a slew of athletes to state
Several members of the North Kitsap High track team qualified for the Class 3A state championships after placing at the West Central District tournament Saturday in Tacoma. The state championships take place May 27-29 at Mount Tahoma High in Tacoma.
On the boys side, Alex Flores qualified in the 100 meters, 200 meters, 4×100- and 4×400-meter relays. Tolen McGregor qualified in the 4×100-meter relay. Tabor Reedy qualified in the 3,200 meters and the 1,600 meters. Alex Fuchs qualified in the 4×100- and 4×400-meter relays. Joel Brose qualified in the 800 meters. Tyler Spear qualified in the 4×400-meter relay. Paolo DeGuzman qualified in the 4×100-meter relay.
On the girls side, Reagan Colyer qualified in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles. Annelise Weinmann qualified in the 3,200 meters. Siara Byers qualified in the 100 meters and the 4×100-meter relay. Taylor Ottomano qualified in the high jump. Addie Carion qualified in the 4×100- and 4×200-meter relays. Indigo Williams qualified in the 100 and 200 meters and in the 4×100- and 4×200-meter relays. Ellie Staker qualified in the 800 meters. Alex Lanzafame qualified in the long jump and triple jump. Melissa Kunold qualified in the 4×100- and 4×200-meter relays.
Kingston sending eight on to state
Eight members of the Kingston High track team qualified for the Class 2A state championships after placing at the West Central District tournament Saturday in Tacoma. The Buccaneer girls placed second overall at the district meet. The state championships take place May 27-29 at Mount Tahoma High in Tacoma.
On the girls side, Ruby Roberts qualified in the 1,600 meters. Marina Roberts qualified in the 3,200 meters. Jaime Schultz qualified in the 300-meter hurdles, triple jump and long jump. Renee Henderson, Tatum Larson, Melia Beckwith and Sarah Wahl qualified with the 4×400-meter relay team.
The lone Kingston boy to qualify for state was Nick Schippers, in the 1,600 meters.
Poulsbo’s Russell Mellin takes fourth at districts
Crosspoint Academy student Russell Mellin of Poulsbo placed fourth in the 3,200 meters at the Class 2B tri-district championships Saturday in Seattle. The top three runners advance to the state tournament May 28-29 in Cheney.
