Wolves play Alaska
booters to a draw
Austin Arper and Diego Aceves-de la Cruz each scored goals, but South Kitsap finished with a 2-2 tie Saturday against Robert Service of Anchorage, Alaska.
Aceves-de la Cruz scored his goal in the 49th minute on a penalty kick, while Arper’s scored came in the 65th.
The Wolves (5-1-1 overall, 4-0-0 league) resume play with a Narrows contest April 13 at Lincoln.
La Deaux named
to all-star team
South Kitsap senior Leon La Deaux was selected to play in the East-West All-Star football game at 1 p.m. June 26 at Everett Memorial Stadium.
He was one of four West Sound players selected, along with Olympic’s Larry Dixon and Blake Johnson and Central Kitsap’s Christian Wesley.
La Deaux, who had 792 yards and 12 touchdowns on 46 receptions in 2009, signed to play this fall at Central Washington University.
South Kitsap dominant
in dual track meet
Several Wolves earned wins in multiple events during last week’s dual meet against Stadium. South Kitsap’s boys team won 118-24, while its girls team earned a 111-29 victory.
On the boys side, Colin Burgh (discus and shot put), Andrew Crock (800 and 1,600), Isaiah Davis (100-meter dash, high jump and long jump) and La Deaux (110 and 300 hurdles) all won multiple events.
For the girls, Riley Dopps (400 and 800), Shelby Jackson (discus, javelin and shot put), Sarah Lacey (100 and 300 hurdles) and Bethany Sanchez (100 and long jump) all won at least two competitions.
Wolves finally
earn baseball win
Zach Mendiola went 2 for 3 with two RBI to help South Kitsap earn its first win of the season with a 5-3 nonleague victory Saturday at Bainbridge.
The Wolves (1-5) were scheduled to play games Wednesday and Thursday against Shelton before Saturday’s nonleague contest at Timberline.
