“Gardening with My Senses” shows at elementary schools

Published 1:00 am Tuesday, September 2, 2008

It’s time for Kingston elementary school students to prepare for the annual Blanche Gray Garden Shows. Blanche Gray started the shows 27 years ago. The Kingston Garden Club has continued the tradition, a favorite with students and teachers alike. The dates for this year’s shows are Sept. 11 at Gordon Elementary and Sept. 18 at Wolfle Elementary. The theme of this year’s shows is “Gardening with My Senses.” Entries are displayed in the hallways of each school on the day of the shows, giving all students a chance to look at the clever and creative entries.

“Gardening with My Senses” should encourage creative entries in the Design division, since entries can be based on sight, smell, or touch. Entry forms will be distributed at both schools.

Kingston Garden Club members will assist children carrying in entries to registration tables at the schools. Registration ends at 9:15 a.m. on the day of the shows. Everyone receives an award for participating and outstanding entries are given special recognition.
