The finalists in the Bremerton Elks 38th Annual Hoop Shoot Contest, which was at Ridgetop Junior High School Jan. 10, were recently announced.

Ages 8-9

Ages 10-11

Boys: Micah Swanberg, Silver Ridge Elementary, 17/25

Girls: Kaylee Yergeau, Mullenix Ridge Elementary, 20/25

Ages 12-13

Boys: Beau Miller, Mullenix Ridge Elementary, 16/25

Finalists will represent their individual schools as well as the county at the district shoot-off Jan. 24 at Hoquiam High School. Finalists from that event advance to the state shoot-off Feb. 14 at Highland Middle School in Bellevue.

Regionals are at Concordia University in Portland, Ore., March 7.

Girls basketball clinic

Total Package Basketball is hosting a preseason junior high girls basketball clinic for players in grades five through nine. The two-session clinic is 5 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday and 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday. Both sessions are at King’s West School. Cost is $65.

The sessions will take players through shooting and ball handling drills to improve their skills. Offensive moves also will be taught along with defensive strategies.
