Wattree converts a pair of free throws with 6.8 seconds left to lead Wolves to 48-46 win at Olympia

Eric Wattree converted a pair of free throws with 6.8 seconds remaining as South Kitsap snapped a four-game losing streak with a 48-46 win Tuesday at Olympia in a Class 4A Narrows league contest.

The win helped the Wolves (10-9 overall, 4-7 league) move into the fifth — and final — playoff spot in next week’s 4A West Central District Tournament. South plays its regular-season finale at 7 tonight against Bellarmine Prep.

Wolves lose home finale

South sputtered during the second half Tuesday en route to a 64-42 loss against Olympia in the Wolves’ 4A Narrows League home finale.

The Wolves (10-7 overall, 6-5 league) fell into a third-place tie with Timberline after the setback. South plays its regular-season finale at 7 tonight at Bellarmine Prep.

Wolves capture four league titles in swimming

Jason Gleason (diving), Yoshi Iwakawa (100-yard breaststroke) and Dylan Macabitas (200 individual medley and 100 backstroke) captured first-place finishes during last week’s Class 4A Narrows League meet.

They are among several South compet- itors who will advance to this week’s West Central District Tournament at Curtis.

South Kitsap bowlers return to state

South finished third with 3,030 points during last week’s West Central District Tournament at Pacific Lanes in Tacoma.

The Wolves were led by Sarah Stolle, who finished third with a series score of 571. Teammate Sarah Layton finished fourth with 542.

South, which finished fourth at last year’s state tournament, will make a return trip today and Saturday for that event at Narrows Plaza Bowl in University Place.
