NK boys lose basketball opener

On Wednesday the Vikings took on Gig Harbor and led 26-25 at the half and out scored Gig 18-14 in the third. However, in the fourth North missed a few opportunities and had a few turnovers, giving Gig Harbor the final advantage 64-58.

Stats: Kyle Erickson, 27 points and eight rebounds in 32 minutes of play; Taylor Hoffer, 17 points and seven rebounds; Brandon Huggins, seven points; Brandyn Winkley, three points; and Kevin Stringer and Taylor Chisholm both had two points.

Kingston boys basketball fall to Washington

On Thursday the Bucs hosted Washington and lost 69-58.

Head coach Tim Olson wrote in an e-mail the Buccaneers are still maturing into competitors, and the team had a chance to put Washington away, but left the window open for Washington to take advantage.

On Friday the Bucs traveled to Port Townsend, results of the game weren’t available at presstime. On Tuesday the Bucs host Klahowya, game starts at 7 p.m.

Bucs fall to Sequim in double dual swim

On Thursday the Bucs and Vikings hosted the Sequim Wolves to a double dual meet. The two high schools will compete in all the season’s meets in double dual style.

Sequim defeated Kingston 111-69.

NK volleyball rakes in kudos from Olympic league

Viking freshman outside hitter/setter Sarah Baugh and junior outside hitter Taylor Ottomano were recognized as first team members by the Olympic League coaches. Senior Lindsay Kocker is a second team member and sophomore Byana Bohl was recognized as an honorable mention. Vikings head coach Tim French was honored by his peers as coach of the year.
