South Kitsap’s Sierrah VanGesen chooses University of Idaho

PORT ORCHARD — She may still have three more years of high school to go, but Sierrah VanGesen has already chosen her next home.

VanGesen, a freshman at South Kitsap this past season, has verbally committed to a scholarship offer from the University of Idaho, joining the team in 2022. She also plays club soccer for Washington Premier in the Elite Clubs National League.

VanGesen is part of a core of promising young players at South Kitsap that helped steer the program to a 9-5-3 record and back to the playoffs for the first time since 2014.

The Vandals are quickly becoming a top choice for players on the Kitsap Peninsula. Former South Kitsap star Savannah Foster just completed her freshman season, and the roster also boasts former Gig Harbor standout Kacie Bruce. Klahowya junior Alyssa Peters has also committed to play in Moscow in 2020.
