Rain already soaking spring sports schedules

Today’s season-opening baseball game between Olympic High School and Peninsula High School, originally scheduled for 4 p.m. at Olympic, is cancelled due to weather. A makeup date has yet to be scheduled, but Olympic coach Nate Andrews said in an e-mail Monday the school is “trying for tomorrow.”

The Trojans are scheduled to face non-league opponent Kentwood on the road at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The Olympic-Central Kitsap fastpitch game also is cancelled, as is the Klahowya-Quilcene baseball game and the Klahowya-Aberdeen fastpitch game.

Olympic Summer Baseball Tryouts

The Olympic Summer Baseball program is holding an open tryout for boys ages 13-15 who will attend Olympic High School in the future. The tryouts are March 28 at the Zone Sportsplex in Poulsbo from noon to 1:30 p.m.

Olympic Summer Baseball will consist of two teams for the first time, serving athletes who are interested in preparing themselves for competition at the high school level.

The March 28 tryout is for the younger team; all players with two or more years of high school eligibility after this school year are eligible. The programs are affiliated with American Legion Baseball.
