POULSBO — The North Kitsap girls’ track and field team can jump.

The team took first in all four jumping events during the Olympic League Championships May 10.

The top finishes, among the rest of the team’s performance, helped boost the Vikings well past the rest of the competition.

Rebecca Darrow took first in High Jump (5-03.00); Chloe Seferos took first in the Pole Vault (10-00.00); Hannah Snyder topped the Long Jump (16-02.25); and Jasmine Selembo finished just ahead of Snyder in the Triple Jump (35-04.50).

And don’t forget throwing. North Kitsap senior Jordan Thomas finished first in Shot Put (34-05.25), ahead of North’s Laura Christman (30-07.00). Christman finished first in Discus (102-00), ahead of Thomas (92-00).

Briann George was the sole Viking to win first in a running event; she finished in 1:00.47.

The girl’s team finished the championships with 209 points. The Port Angeles Roughriders finished second with 93.5.

Along with the girls’ notable finish, was North’s Taylor Stephens. Stephens finished first in the High Jump (6-02.00), ahead of Olympic’s DeMarco Wilson (6-00.00).

Ryan Allen finished second in Pole Vault (11-06.00). The boy’s 4×100 Relay took second.

And Zachary Whittaker finished third in Long Jump (21-06.00). The boys finished third overall with 86 points. Olympic took first with 165.

Kingston’s Annie Roberts and Garrett Rouser earned five top individual finishes during the Championships.

Roberts finished first in the 800-meter, 1,600-meter, and 3,200-meter runs. Rouser took first in the 110-meter Hurdles and 300-meter Hurdles. He was also on the 4×400 Relay Team, which took first.

The top finishes added to the boy’s and girl’s teams during the event at North Kitsap Stadium. The Kingston boys finished fifth overall. The girls placed fourth.

The league championships precede the sub-district meet at Bremerton high School, May 17 at 11 a.m.
