Bremerton graduate Marvin Williams, who has missed the Atlanta Hawks’ past 14 games due to a lower back injury, joined the team for a portion of practice Monday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Williams, who is out indefinitely, was injured in a game against the Detroit Pistons March 7. He is averaging 14 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.

The Hawks (44-34) are currently in fourth place in the Eastern Conference, which would grant them home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs, but they’ve lost three consecutive games.

With a three-game lead over the Miami Heat for the No. 4 seed and only four games remaining in the regular season, Williams doesn’t figure to return until the playoffs.

The Hawks nearly upset the then-No. 1 seed Boston Celtics in the 2008 playoffs, but lost the best-of-seven series 4-3.

Williams is in his fourth year with the Hawks after leaving the University of North Carolina in 2005 for the NBA Draft.

He was selected No. 2 overall in the 2005 NBA Draft.

Williams graduated from Bremerton High School in 2004.
