Knights, Vikings play for No. 1 seed to Districts May 3 | Baseball

The No. 5 seed into the fastpitch league tournament is undecided.

POULSBO — The Bremerton Knights and North Kitsap Vikings varsity teams will battle for the No. 1 seed to the West Central District tournament May 3.

The two teams play at 7 p.m. at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds during the Olympic League Baseball Tournament.

If the Knights (15-1) win May 3 during the league tournament, the Knights will head to Districts as the No. 1 seed. The Vikings (13-2) will be No. 2 to Districts.

If the Vikings defeat the Knights May 3, a second game will be played May 4. A win May 3 will give the Vikings a chance to move above the Knights, and the No. 1 seed to Districts.

The District tournament begins May 7, where four of five teams seeding from the Olympic League play. The No. 1 seed from the league tournament gets a first-round bye and plays May 8.

All five teams in the league tournament will play in Districts.  The other teams in the league tournament are the Klahowya Eagles (8-7), Olympic Trojans (10-6), and Port Angeles Roughriders (9-7). The Trojans earned the No. 3 seed into the tournament. The Roughriders have the No. 4 seed. The Eagles have the No. 5 seed.

The Eagles and Roughriders play the first game of the league tournament May 1.

Fastpitch tourney is still a wait-and-see situation

POULSBO — Though the top four teams in Olympic League fastpitch have earned a spot in the league tournament, the bracket still have a spot to fill.

The No. 5 seed, which would currently go to the North Kitsap Vikings, is still up for grabs.

The Vikings (5-8) have one less loss than the North Mason Bulldogs (5-9), and two fewer than the Bremerton Knights (5-10).

There are still two days of fastpitch left, however.

The Vikings are scheduled to play Port Angeles (12-2), May 1, and the Bulldogs, May 6.

The Bulldogs play Port Townsend (1-13) May 1, before playing the Vikings.The Knights play the Kingston Buccaneers (9-4) May 1, and has a bye May 6. Both the Knights and Bulldogs have a shot at passing the Vikings and taking the No. 5 seed to the tournament.

Because the Knights have a bye May 6, the team will need to win their game against the Bucs to have a shot at seeding into the tournament.

The Sequim Wolves (13-0), Port Angeles Roughriders (12-2), Olympic Trojans (10-4) and Bucs (9-4) have secured seeds to the league tournament.

The fastpitch tournament will determine seeding into the District tournament, May 17.
