Kitsap sending many tracksters to state

North Kitsap, Kingston, Bremerton and Olympic competed in the 2A West Central District 3 meet. The top six boys and girls of each event qualified for state.

Bainbridge, Central Kitsap and South Kitsap competed in the 3A/4A West Central District 3 meet. The top seven boys and girls for each event qualified for state.

North Kitsap

Matthew Fee was second in the 800 in 1:55.93. Ethan White finished fourth in the triple jump at 41-11.25. Kai Espiritu finished fifth in the pole vault at 11-6. Quinny Stuart finished fifth in the 3200 in 9:58.04.

Salix Wartes-Kahl won the girls 800 meter in 2:18.65. Phoebe Aala finished second in the girls discus at 107-3 while Corinne Aala finished fifth at 100-2. Mikayla Burton finished seventh in the long jump at 15-2.25.

Avery Lynch, Sylenna Hogan, Georgia Nelson and Wartes-Kahl finished sixth in the 4×400 relay in 4:22.93.

Logan Sloman finished second in the 100 meters in 11.07 seconds. He also finished fourth in the 200 meter in 22.56. Sloman, Kyree McGinty, Solomon Furne and Cohen Meis also finished second in the 4×100 relay in 43.22 seconds. James Rebman and Lincoln Gould finished second and third in the javelin with throws of 170-3 and 167-2. Kyle Oppliger finished fifth in the high jump with a leap of 5-8.

On the girls side, Wartes-Kahl finished second in the 1600 in 5:14.65. Julie Castillejo finished fourth in the 400 meters in 1:01.06 and Calina Morgan finished fifth in the 100 meters in 12.71. Bella Johnston, Kayla Skistimas, Mikayla Burton and Morgan finished sixth in the 4×100 relay in 51.49 seconds. Morgan also finished seventh in the 200 meters in 26.72.

Johnston and Corinne Aala tied for first in the pole vault with marks of 9 feet, and teammate Skistimas finished third at 8-6.

Kingston

Buc Lucas Lenz finished fourth in the 3200 in 9:51.17. Kingston’s Leighton Menge was the only girl to qualify for state, finishing fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.94 seconds and sixth in the long jump with 15-4.5.

Bremerton

Bremerton’s Dallin Anderson, Isaiah Cadengo, Owen Brooks and Isaiah Addison finished third in the 4×400 relay in 3:29.39. Asher Stewart finished seventh in the 3200 in 10:00.27. Cadengo won the 400 meters in 48.91 seconds, was second in the 200 meters in 22.36 and fourth in the 100 meters in 11.16. Anderson won the 800 meters in 1:54.83 and was third in the 1600 in 4:14.29. Jaxson McCrimmon placed sixth in the long jump with a 20-4.75 mark.

On the girls side, Cecilia Powell won the 400 meters in 58.77 seconds and finished second in the 200 meters in 26.05. Rylee Wheaton won the shot put with a throw of 40-7.5.

Olympic

Joshua Turner finished sixth in the 800 meters in 1:59.93. Rico Cooper was third in the triple jump with 42-11.5. DeQuan Freeland and Kevin Hudson finished sixth and seventh in the shot put with 45-3.5 and 45-3. Mia Talarico finished fourth in the long jump with 15-8.75. Alex Bullman finished sixth in the javelin with a toss of 152-6. Olivia Jackson, Savannah Mitchell, LaQuinta Curtis and Talrico finished fourth in the 4×100 in 51.35 seconds while Jackson, Mitchell, Talarico and Megan Krell finished sixth in the 4×200 relay.

Bainbridge

On the second day, Ben Crandall finished second in the 3200 in 9:34.58, and Seth Burke finished seventh in the 800 meters in 1:59.65.

Brad LeVine finished third in the javelin with a mark of 163-1. Mairin O’Brien finished sixth in the 3200 in 11:24.84. Claire Hungerford won the 300 hurdles in 44.17, with teammate Sabine Hartenstine fourth in 45.76.

Cara Brundige, Hungerford, Hartenstine and O’Brien finished sixth in the 4×400 relay in 4:07.81. Hartenstine also qualified in the high jump, finishing fifth with a leap of 5 feet. Lastly, Ella McRitchie won the pole vault with a mark of 14 feet.

The Spartans will have three boy pole vaulters at state. Jonas Michael and Isaac Ellis tied for third with 13 feet, six inches while Yafei Shou finished sixth with 13 feet even.

Hungerford finished second in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.39 seconds while Hartenstine was seventh in 16.43.

Central Kitsap

Central Kitsap dominated on the second day. Mana Voss won the 800 meters in 1:54.45, and Blake Reynolds finished fourth in 1:59.52. Michael Vlach finished third in the 3200 in 9:37.58.

Logan Price Voeltz, Sebastien Jeancharles, Gavin Brown and Voss finished seventh in the 4×400 relay in 3:32.21. Josiah Jacobs finished fourth in the javelin with a toss of 157-1.

On the girls side, Audra and Taylor Palmer finished fourth and fifth in 2:14.51 and 2:14.74. Clare Herring finished fourth in the 3200 in 11:21.97. Maleia Dayao, Audra Palmer, Taylor Palmer and Bailey Grace Dayao finished sixth in the 4×400 relay in 4:07.99.

Savannah Fourier was second in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet.

Central Kitsap qualified four tracksters for state in the 1600. Voss finished third in 4 minutes, 23.79 seconds, while Vlach was fourth in 4:24.36, Reynolds fifth in 4:26.72 and Brown sixth in 4:26.82.

Also for CK, Matthew Rolley finished sixth in the shot put with a throw of 48 feet, 8.5 inches. Audra Palmer and Taylor Palmer placed sixth and seventh in the girls 1600 in 5:02.63 and 5:10.16. Fourier was seventh in the javelin with a toss of 105-4.

South Kitsap

South Kitsap’s second day was successful too. Isaac Benjamin finished second in the 3200 in 9:17.30 and Jefferson Smith finished fifth in the 800 meters in 1:58.03. Sypress Aupaau was sixth in the shot put with a throw of 47-6.

Cheyanna Barker finished fourth in the 200 meters in 25.45 seconds. Lauren Laws was second in the 800 in 2:13.58. Grace Degarimore won the javelin with a throw of 135-5 with teammate Rylee Fibert second at 119-05.

South Kitsap’s Octavian Clark was the first of many Wolves to qualify for state. Clark finished third in the 100 meters in 11 seconds. Clark also finished fifth in the long jump with a mark of 20-10.

Barker finished fifth in the 100 meters in 12.57 seconds, and Laws was fifth in the girls 1600 in 5:01.99. Degarimore placed first in discus with a toss of 146-2 and second in the shot put with a throw of 43-10.75. Kennedy Feldhacker finished fifth in discus with a mark of 104-10.

Klahowya

Klahowya kicked off the district track meets for the Kitsap County teams, competing in the 1A West Central District 3 meet at Vashon Island May 14. The boys team finished fourth with 23 points while the girls were sixth with eight points. To qualify for state, an Eagle needed to finish second or better in their event. Nathan Morrison was the first Eagle to qualify, winning the 300-meter hurdles in 45.23 seconds. Deacon Wintch won the pole vault with a mark of 11 feet.

Morrison, Wintch, Aiden Smith and Tyler Larson won the 4×400 relay in 3:32.89, while Larson finished second in the 800 in 1:59.57. Maggie Keenan finished second in the 100 hurdles in 15.64 seconds. Macayla Wrataric, Jordan Clark, Natalie Oathout and Audrey Younger finished second in the 4×400 relay in 4:18.74. Oathout followed up with a second-place finish in the 800 and 3200 events in 2:21.31 and 12:09.
