SPANAWAY — Aimee Zehrung’s state title run ended in a seventh-place finish, shared with four other people.
Zehrung finished with a total score of 184.
The score tied Zehrung with Franklin Pierce’s Stormie Follen, Hockinson’s Shelby La Tourrette, Orting’s Madison Lavergne, and Ephrata’s Kendall Sage.
Zehrung was one of three from the North Kitsap School District to advance to the second round of the 2A State Golf Championships at The Classic Golf Club.
Zehrung shot 96 during the first round. She tied for 14th with five other competitors.
Dani Fox shot 103 to finish in 32nd.
North Kitsap’s Kaylin Oster — the only golfer to advance to state from the school — shot 104. Oster Tied for 38th with four other golfers.
In order to advance to the second round, golfers had to finish with a score of 104 or below.
Kingston’s Emily Vernik and Kindra Smith were unable to make the cut. Vernik narrowly missed the required 104, shooting 105. Smith shot 109. The leader for the first day was Fife’s Kendall Gray. Gray scored 79.
Bellingham’s Jenn Paul took second with a score of 82.
Others from the Olympic League in front of Zehrung included Sequim’s Alex McMenamin took fourth during the first round, scoring an 11-over-par 85, and Port Angeles’ Dana Fox, who scored 92, good for 10th.
Of the 11 golfers who finished in the top 10 during State, Zehrung was tied with two others for the third best score in round two. Zehrung, Port Angele’s Dana Fox, and Follen earned an 88. The best score during the second round was 86, by Sequim’s McMenamin.
Kingston’s Dani Fox wrapped up her State appearance with a 33rd place finish. She scored 103 during the first and second rounds.
North Kitsap’s Oster finished 37th. She scored 109 in the second round for a total of 213.
Coddington finishes 41st
UNIVERSITY PLACE — Kingston’s Cole Coddington finished the 2A State Golf Championships in 41st.
Coddington ended the second round with a total score of 183.
Coddington shot 84 to finish 26th during the first day of the championships.
Kingston’s Nolan Setterlund was unable to make the cut. Setterlund shot a 98.
