Kingston sneaks past PA in penalties

The Kingston boys soccer team was able to sneak past Port Angeles 2-1 after winning in penalties March 14.

The Buccaneers won the penalty shootout 5-4 over the Roughriders.

At around the midpoint of the first half, Port Angeles’ goalie was called for a handball outside the box. Therefore, PA had to set up a wall to try and stop Kingston midfielder Daniel Moran’s free kick. However, Moran blasted it with his right foot and hooked it far post over the goalie to give Kingston a 1-0 lead.

With 10 minutes left in the game, Port Angeles began to fire shots from all over the pitch. One shot from 30 yards out went over Kingston goalie Phin Dominy to tie the game at 1-1. Neither team scored during the rest of the regulation or in the two 5-minute sudden-death overtime periods.

Kingston then made all five of its penalty kicks, while Port Angeles shot one over the crossbar.
