King’s West AD Dittmer resigns

Longtime coach and classroom instructor Dan Dittmer has resigned from his position as athletic director at King’s West School, the Bremerton Patriot learned Friday.

Dittmer, who has taught and coached in some fashion for 37 years and was AD at King’s West for eight, said Friday the resignation was for “personal reasons” and “it was just time.”

“I’m happy, my wife is happy,” he said. “There comes a time and place and my time has come.”

He taught math and P.E. and coached both volleyball and track and field to go with his duties as AD during his tenure at King’s West.

Dittmer said he planned on retiring at the end of the academic year, but that time came “four weeks early.”

A phone call to the school seeking comment was not immediately returned, and it is unclear whether an interim AD and track and field coach is in place.

The King’s West track and field team is scheduled to compete in the Class 2B SeaTac League championships May 20 and May 23.
