William Walker Griffin

William Walker Griffin, 88

William Walker Griffin of Cliffside died Aug. 19, 2007 in Cliffside. He was 88.

Griffin was born to Amanda and William Griffin in Atchison, Kan. on Sept. 17, 1918.

He married Doris Louise Newkirk in 1943 in Santa Barbara, Calif.

Griffin attended Emporia State University.

He served in the U.S. Army starting at the outbreak of World War II for two years. He was recalled in 1951, after having managed a butcher shop in Van Nuys, Calif., and served for over 20 years, startING as an Artillery Officer and retiring as a Major. Griffin worked as an international defense contractor and supply specialist in Vietnam and Singapore. He also worked as a park planner for the city of Seattle before retiring.

Griffin is survived by his wife Doris; sons Donald Kenneth Griffin of Eaton, Colo., William Walker Griffin Jr. of Olympia and Kenneth Wayne Griffin of Kirkland; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by the Cook Family Funeral Home.

Griffin will be interred at the Hansville Cemetery.

Memorial gifts may be sent to the Salvation Army.
