Marilyn (Elaine) Solheim

Marilyn (Elaine) Solheim passed away on Feb. 2, 2015 at St. Anthony Hospital in Gig Harbor, Washington. She was 92.

She was born on July 13, 1922 in Ballard, Washington to Norwegian immigrants Helga and Herman Solheim.

Elaine attended Adams Grade School and graduated from Ballard High School in 1940. Her life’s work included being in the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard. She also worked as an executive in telecommunications at the Presidio in San Francisco.

After retiring, she moved to Suquamish, where she was vice president in charge of the Suquamish Village Square, a shopping center started by her brother, Karsten Solheim, who was president and the founder of PING golf club manufacturing in Phoenix, Arizona. She ran the world famous Karsten’s Fine Dining Restaurant and Suquamish Hardware and Gift Shop.

She was devoted to her brother, Karsten. Elaine is survived by her sister Marjorie, niece Nancy and nephew Paul, and sister in-law Louise Solheim and her family.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visitation on Feb. 20, 2015 at 1 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. at Port Madison Lutheran Church, 14000 N. Madison Ave., Bainbridge Island. Interment will take place at Floral Hills Memorial Park in Lynnwood.
