Leo Legaz

Leo Legaz, 96

Leo Legaz of Hansville died Feb. 4, 2007 in Bremerton. He was 96.

Legaz was born to Marco and Mary (Simicich) Legaz in Seattle on Nov. 24, 1910.

He was married to Mary Weichseldorfer.

He attended Briscoe School for Boys and Saint Martins, Ketchikan, Broadway and Queen Anne high schools.

Legaz worked as a commercial fisherman in Alaska, California and Washington. He also operated a grocery store in Lower Queen Anne and The Kingston General Store. He also played semi-professional baseball for Pacific Marine.

He enjoyed coaching Little League in the North Kitsap area.

Legaz is survived by brother Louis Legaz of Eureka, Calif.; sisters Alice David of Poulsbo and Louise Legaz of Seattle.

Legaz was preceded in death by his wife Mary Legaz.

A Rosary will be held at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 12 prior to a memorial Mass at St. Olaf’s Catholic Church in Poulsbo at noon.
