Duray E. DeYoung

Duray E. DeYoung, 78

Kingston resident Duray E. DeYoung died Sept. 24, 2006 in Poulsbo. He was 78.

DeYoung was born to Dowe and Johanna Breen DeYoung in Grand Rapids, Mich. on Jan. 27, 1928.

He married Gloria Sherry in April 1954 in Seattle.

DeYoung graduated from Nooksack Valley High School and the University of Washington.

He worked for Boeing and Resource Conservation Management, retiring from both and then working as a consultant.

DeYoung served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.

He enjoyed traveling and genealogy. He was also a member of the First Lutheran Church of Poulsbo, where he was active in the Monday men’s group and TROLLS.

DeYoung is survived by his wife Gloria DeYoung of Kingston; sons Robert (Eva-Marie) DeYoung of Sweden and Charles DeYoung of Pacific Grove, Calif.; daughters Carol (Kevin) Kaae of Boise, Idaho and Nancy (Tim) MacDonald of Auburn; brothers Evert (MaryJo) DeYoung of Puyallup, Gordon (Carol) DeYoung of Minnesota and D. James (Lois) DeYoung of Dupont; sister Arlyn (Paul) Lyons of Phoenix, Ariz.; and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 30 at First Lutheran Church of Poulsbo.
