Dorothy Mae Moriarty

Dorothy Mae Moriarty, 85

Dorothy Mae Moriarty of Hansville died on Aug. 14, 2004 in Poulsbo. She was 85.

Moriarty was born to Robert Edward and Lula Victoria (Brown) Sisson on Jan. 21, 1919 in Bisbee, Ariz.

She was married to Earl Moriarty for 32 years until his death.

She was raised and educated in Bisbee, Ariz. and graduated from Bisbee High School in 1937.

Moriarty, with her first husband, worked as the owner/operator of Hansville Repair. She volunteered at the Martha & Mary Nursing Home, where she played the piano, organ and was a hair stylist.

She enjoyed sewing, knitting, cooking, doing crafts and traveling. Moriarty was a member of the Hansville Ladies Aid and associated with the Hansville Community Church.

Moriarty is survived by her sister Marguerite Ham of Bisbee, Ariz. and close friend Patricia Jean Richards of Hansville.

Memorial services will be scheduled at a later date and burial will be held at the Hansville Cemetery.

Julia P. Sorensen, 101

Former Poulsbo resident Julia Petra Sorensen died Aug. 12, 2004 in Bremerton. She was 101.

Sorensen was born to Peder O. and Christine (Hanson) Johnson.

She married Olaf M. Sorensen.

Sorensen graduated from high school in Poulsbo and later from Pacific Lutheran University.

She worked as a homemaker and also farmed in Poulsbo for many years on the site where North Kitsap High School now stands. She enjoyed knitting and fancy hand work.

Sorensen is survived by her son Phillip O. (Elaine) Sorensen of Poulsbo; daughter Delores (Guy) Murren of Missouri; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Olaf M. Sorensen, daughter Adeline Moore, three brothers and one sister.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 21 at The Stone Chapel in Poulsbo. Inurnment will be at the Poulsbo City Cemetery under the direction of The Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove in Poulsbo.
