Road work along State Route 305 at the Agate Pass Bridge has been canceled, according to a Nov. 26 press release from the Washington State Department of Transportation.
A series of night closures was planned for the bridge over the course of three weeks in December, but now WSDOT officials are saying both lanes of the bridge will remain open throughout December.
WSDOT had been planning to repair damage to the bridge that was caused by an overheight load. The repairs were planned to take place ahead of a bridge painting project scheduled for 2019, but now the group is saying it will hold off on the repairs so that staff has adequate time to prepare for the project.
In February, WSDOT crews will be conducting an annual inspection, which will reduce the bridge to one lane of travel during daytime hours.
Specific information on the Agate Pass Bridge projects will be forthcoming, WSDOT says.
