Strawberry Festival
The Indianola Living Hope Church 31st Annual Strawberry Festival takes place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 1 at the corner of Midway and Division streets.
The sweet feast features strawberry shortcake and fresh-baked pies made with Spooner Farms strawberries, homemade shortcake and real whipped cream. The Ellis family will provide entertainment. Plants and crafts will also be for sale. Proceeds from the event are used for missions and building repairs. Cost is $4.50 for a large serving of shortcake, $2.50 for kid size. “Fiddler on the Roof, Jr.â€
The Kitsap Children’s Musical Theatre presents its production of “Fiddler on the Roof, Jr.†directed by Kerby Criss. There will be evening and matinee performances at the North Kitsap Auditorium, 1881 NE Hostmark St., Poulsbo. The times and dates are 3 p.m. July 1, 5 p.m. July 2, 7 p.m. July 7, 3 p.m. July 8 and 5 p.m. July 9. Tickets are $8 each available at Kitsap Mall and at the door.
The cast includes 52 kids, ages 7 to 17 representing 17 different schools from Bainbridge to Hansville to Silverdale. The fiddler will be played by violinists Kelly Lanzafame, 9, and Maren Sedy, 10, both from Poulsbo. For more information, go to www.kcmt.org or e-mail to kerby@kcmt.org.
Friends’ book sale
The Kingston Friends of the Library hosts its annual summer used book sale 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. July 15 during the Kingston Farmers’ Market at Mike Wallace Park in the Port of Kingston. Proceeds from the sale go towards a new library.
Books are priced at $1 for hardcover, $.50 for paperbacks with some specially marked books. A bag sale takes place 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. when a bag of books is $5.
Donations of books, compact discs, videos and DVDs are greatly needed. Drop off donations at the Kingston library during hours that its open. For more information, contact the Kingston library at (360) 297-3330, located inside the Kingston Community Center, 11212 Highway 104.
Indianola Days
Indianola Days, a true community celebration, takes place July 22-23 and features a salmon bake, sand castle contest, races on the tide flats, a unique car show, street fair and much more.
Stunt Night gets everyone geared up for a fun weekend on Friday, July 21 at the Indianola Clubhouse. Craig Smith serves as master of ceremonies. To participate or help out, contact Kit Foley at (360) 297-1761.

Concerts at Buck Lake
The Concerts in the Park at Hansville’s Buck Lake take place 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 29. There will be fabulous music, great food and activities for kids. The music lineup includes: singer Kat Spitz, Foxfire Bluegrass, Eli Dayley and his band and Rick May with Irish traditional music.
Grilled burgers and hot dogs with potato salad will be available for $1.25 and pop for $.50. Community folks who plan to attend are asked to bring a dessert to share. Call Becky Ellison at (360) 638-0738 for information.
