Keep kids busy with fun activities

Summer fun art camp

Shabala Studio in Eglon offers summer art camps for children ages 6 to 12.

“Fun, Fabulous Flowers,” July 10-13, focuses on color, and exploring flowers through several drawing and painting media. “Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain,” July 17-29, will cover the first half of the realistic drawing curriculum (second half to be offered Aug 7-10). “Textures in Nature,” Aug. 21-24, includes a beach walk to collect textural subject matter to use in a variety of two- and three-dimensional art forms.

Boys & Girls Club

The North Kitsap Boys & Girls Club Summer Fun Program welcomes junior high students from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays for seven weeks beginning July 11. Pick up and drop off takes place at Kola Kole Park in Kingston. Activities will include Native horsemanship, swimming, ice skating, blowing, hiking and kayaking.

Registration fee is $20 per week or $125 for the entire seven weeks. A bag lunch and snacks are included.

Chess Club for kids

Summer Chess Club for kids ages 6-12 takes place 5-6 p.m. Thursdays, June 29 through Aug. 3, at the Kingston Community Center, located at 11212 Highway 104.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Library, players of all skill levels are welcome to come play, learn basic strategies and can drop in any week. For more information call the Kingston library at (360) 297-3330.

Summer school
