Poulsbo resident earns scholarship from WWU

Western Washington University student Morgan Young, daughter of David and Valerie Young of Poulsbo, received a $1,000 president’s scholarship for the 2008-09 academic year. President’s scholarships are awarded to approximately the top 8 to 10 percent of rising freshmen and transfer students, and are based on superior academic achievement. Young, a rising freshman, earned a 3.82 GPA at North Kitsap High School and is interested in majoring in biology. She’s a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society.

Cari, bachelor of arts in apparel, merchandising and textiles; David Keith Carver, bachelor of science in civil engineering; Simon Oliver Kornelis, bachelor of arts in humanities; Stephanie Ann Newcomb, bachelor of arts in speech and hearing sciences; and Kristian Jan-Daniel Strub, bachelor of arts in history.

Poulsbo resident graduates

from Kaplan University

Michelle L. Bennett of Poulsbo was awarded an associate of science degree in interdisciplinary studies from Kaplan University during a commencement ceremony earlier this month at the Chicago Symphony Theatre.

Whitworth University

students qualify

for Laureate Society

David Blue of Indianola and Nathaniel Orwiler of Kingston have been named to the Whitworth University Laureate Society for spring semester 2008.

The students qualified for the academic honor society by maintaining a grade point average of at least 3.75 during the semester.

Local students inducted into

the National

Honor Roll

The National Honor Roll recognizes high-achieving high school and middle school students and only students with a B or better grade point average are eligible to be inducted into the honor roll. Each student is asked to submit information about their grade point averages, interests, activities and future goals. Seven North End students qualified for induction into the 2007-08 National Honor Roll: North Kitsap High’s Meagan Acdal, and Kingston High’s Taylor Etchey, Cody Holt, Morgan McCalister, Cory Osterhoudt, Gina Renee Smith and Jonathon Smith.
