Safety improvements coming to Bethel Burley/Burley Olalla intersection

Kitsap County’s Department of Public Works is overseeing the $442,321 project.

SOUTH KITSAP — In a little more than a week from now, work will begin to install safety improvements at the intersection of Bethel Burley Road SE and SE Burley Olalla Road in South Kitsap.

Kitsap County’s Department of Public Works will install a left turn lane on southbound Bethel Burley Road SE, just north of the intersection with SE Burley Olalla Road. The county said the project also will include improvements to the stormwater collection system with the installation of new catch basins within the project limits.

The three-month project will begin on April 23 and is scheduled to be completed by July, weather permitting. Derek McCoy, the project’s construction manager, said the roadway will remain open for the duration of the project. He cautioned, however, that motorists can expect brief traffic delays. Flaggers will assist motorists through the project area. The work will occur during normal working hours between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The work is being done by Northwest Cascade, Inc. under a $442,321 construction contract.
