SILVERDALE — Kitsap Humane Society’s annual PetsWALK will be held in downtown Poulsbo July 16.

Last year, the event had a record number of participants, with more than 400 walkers and runners joining KHS volunteers and staff. The PetsWALK raised more than $23,000 in support of the animal shelter.

This year, KHS hopes to raise $25,000. Community members can help raise funds to save animals’ lives by registering a team and fundraising with friends, family and co-workers. Prizes will be provided to any participant who raises $125 or more.

If you can’t attend the event, you can still help KHS raise crucial funds that provide services to animals in need by donating to a team. Even a $5 donation helps.

The money raised during PetsWALK helps KHS to provide life-saving aid to animals in need. Belle came to KHS with skin issues and separation anxiety. She was in poor shape with very little fur left on her body. She has been treated at KHS for the last month and is making great progress.

Funds raised at PetsWALK go toward helping rehabilitate and rehome dogs like Belle throughout the year. Belle will require extra care, but her forever home will be blessed with a very sweet companion. Register for PetsWALK now and help animals like Belle get the second chance they deserve.

Registration is now open for the 2016 PetsWALK at www.kitsap-humane.org/event/petswalk; or donate directly to PetsWALK by visiting the fundraising page at www.raceplanner.com/donate/ZDVNZS14ZOJZFNG.
