Public hearings set for county’s sign code update

The Kitsap County Planning Commission is conducting a public hearings on June 3 in Port Orchard to accept public comment on Kitsap County Draft Sign Code.

The Kitsap County Planning Commission is conducting a public hearings on June 3 in Port Orchard to accept public comment on Kitsap County Draft Sign Code.

The meeting is 6-9 p.m. at the Kitsap County Administration Building, 619 Division St.

“The draft Sign Code is designed to foster economic development by providing predictability while preserving the high level of visual quality of Kitsap County” said Larry Keeton, director of Department of Community Development. “Our goal is to adopt a user-friendly Sign Code recognizing the preferences of Kitsap County residents and businesses.”

The Planning Commission holds these hearings to help them prepare a recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners.

The board will provide an additional open comment period and schedule a hearing before taking final action on the proposed updates.
