Poulsbo is set to move forward with Walker Consultants out of Seattle to perform a planning study to identify short- and long-term solutions to downtown parking challenges.

In January, a committee was formed to look at solutions, city documents state. A committee was formed to select the most-qualified consulting firm. Members include three each from the City Council and Planning Commission, and six citizens and business owners with a strong interest in downtown parking.

Three proposals were received, and two selected for interviews. The committee chose Walker Consultants to complete the Downtown Parking Study.

The consultant’s fees fall within the budget of $40,000, per documents. The contract will be placed on the council’s consent agenda for approval May 17.
