Poulsbo man arrested for alleged rape of a child

A 36-year-old Poulsbo resident was arrested Tuesday for allegedly raping a girl.

According to documents from the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office, the victim was at her friends’ house in Poulsbo when suspect Julio Gonzalez asked his daughters to go out and play, leaving him alone with the victim in the living room.

During a child forensic interview, the victim alleged that Gonzalez had her perform oral sex on and intercourse with him. When authorities contacted Gonzalez, he denied the allegations.

When asked if he was ever alone with the victim in the house, he stated, “Only while she was putting on her shoes.”

Home surveillance video shows that Gonzalez and the victim were alone together for approximately six minutes. He further told authorities that he had been sitting on the couch when the victim came up to him asking for help to put her shoes on.

Based on the victim’s disclosure and the six minutes they were alone together, Gonzalez was placed under arrest for suspicion of first-degree rape of a child. He was booked into Kitsap County Jail with bail set at $150,000.
