Port commission to discuss marina tariffs

Port staff is recommending a 5 percent increase in the moorage fees for covered moorage at the Port Orchard marina.

Tariff schedules for the marinas at Bremerton and Port Orchard are on the agenda when the Port of Bremerton commissioners meet Tuesday.

Commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. April 8 in the Bill Mahan Conference Room in the Port Administrative offices, 8850 Highway 3, Bremerton.

Port staff is recommending a 5 percent increase in the moorage fees for covered moorage at the Port Orchard marina. That will increase revenues by $12,324.

For Bremerton, the staff is recommending to keep the incentive of one month’s rent free after six months paid rent. But staff is recommending that the cost of the seven months be divided into seven equal payments which will bring the typical size slip down below $300 per month.

A work session on higher education and economic development will also be a part of the meeting.

Several lease agreements are on the agenda for approval.
