POULSBO — Customers depending on the city of Poulsbo for water will see a slight bubble in their February utility bills.
The city’s new utility rate structure went into effect on Jan. 1 along with its new utility billing software, but it appears there was a minor glitch in the system.
Customers were charged the base rate for water; however, charges for water consumption were not included in the utility billings mailed Jan. 31, City Clerk Karol Jones said.
POULSBO — The likelihood of another crack in the aging sewer line running along the east side of Liberty Bay will soon become almost non-existent as work continues to abandon the system in favor of a vastly improved one.
While doing so has been needed for a while, the direness of the situation was most apparent in September 2005 when the line leaked an estimated 553,000 gallons of raw sewage into the bay.

POULSBO — The looming showdown over the future of the Poulsbo Police Department came to a sudden end Wednesday night as the city council voted unanimously to no longer explore the option of contracting out police services to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office.
That possibility was part of a process study of the department approved by the council to provide a framework for improving its overall efficiency as Police Chief Jeff Doran prepares to retire at the end of March.
