Open house to review final county park plan draft

Public hearing coming up on Feb. 12 in Poulsbo

PORT ORCHARD — The public is invited to an open house presentation Wednesday, Feb. 7 on the final draft of the 2018 Kitsap County Parks, Recreation and Open Space Plan update.

The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Commissioners Chambers of the county’s Administration Building, 619 Division St. in Port Orchard.

A public hearing will later take place at the county commissioners’ regular business meeting Feb. 12. It begins at 5:30 p.m. at Poulsbo City Hall, 200 Moe St. NE.

The plan outlines goals, strategies, capital facilities planning and investment emphasis for the county park system that now encompasses more than 10,000 acres. Public input collected since last summer is incorporated into the final draft that identifies key issues, strengths and opportunities, provides guidelines and policy direction, and ensures the parks department continues to serve as integral to the county’s social and economic development, according to the department.
