Storage facility

Coppertop Storage opened recently in Poulsbo, and nearly every one of the 440 units offers the convenience of drive up, right to the locker.

The facility is fully fenced, access is restricted, every door has an alarm, every unit is heated and cooled, and the entire facility is canvassed with lighting and security cameras. The facility is staffed during business hours and surveilled after hours with live monitoring.

Coppertop Storage offers covered boat and RV storage complete with power hookups, giving owners the ability to keep their batteries charged, heat on, and or dehumidifiers running.

“So many of these new neighborhoods have restrictions prohibiting the storage of toys in driveways. Now there is a place for them to go,” said Doug Nelson, developer of the facility.

The facility sits on 5 ½ acres at 23018 Ryen Drive off Thompson and Highway 305, across from Snider Park. Lockers range in size from 5 feet by 5 feet to 10 feet by 30 feet. The facility also offers U-haul trucks for rental, packing supplies, hitch locks and wheel chocks.

2nd-degree rape

Bail is set at $500,000 for a 45-year-old Edmonds man charged in Kitsap County Superior Court with second-degree rape Oct. 25.

He was arrested on a warrant from Oct. 9. He faces life in prison and a $50,000 fine.

Bremerton police say a woman reported Sept. 9, 2022, that after a night out she was raped in Bremerton by the man at around 5 a.m. at a friend’s residence where she was staying. After sleeping on separate couches she got up to leave. She was putting on a medical boot and unfolding her medical scooter when he started kissing her and threw her down on a couch. The sexual assault stopped when she threatened to tell a mutual friend after saying “no” numerous times.

She went to a hospital for a SANE before calling 911. An officer contacted the suspect and asked that he turn himself in. He did not but was later arrested after his DNA was matched to samples from the victim.

Submit plays

Island Theatre again is asking playwrights in Kitsap County to submit original plays for its 11th Annual Ten-Minute Play Festival.

The deadline is Feb. 14, 2024. This year’s theme is “Hunger” so that needs to be central to the play. The theater will donate 10% of proceeds to a nonprofit that addresses that issue.

Ten plays will be selected in April and performed at Bainbridge Performing Arts Buxton Center Aug. 22-24.
