NK High marks 100th Anniversary with time capsule

It will be opened in 50 years, contains various items

North Kitsap High School is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, and the recent graduates of the class of 2024 came up with the idea of burying a time capsule with various items on school grounds that will be opened in 50 years.

“For 100 years, (NKHS) has been a cornerstone of the Poulsbo community,” principal Megan Sawicki said. “When you look around this campus, you can feel the history, the culture and the spirit of our community. This is part of what makes (NKHS) so special. The 2024 time capsule is a special way to commemorate and record this history and continue to build upon the incredible heritage of this school and community.”

The time capsule, which will be opened in 2074, contains postcards to future students, the 2024 yearbook, newspaper clippings and other items.

“The intent of this time capsule is to capture some of the past and present to share with the future students who will make up” NKHS, said Allari Strong, senior class president.
