POULSBO — First worship service for a new Unitarian Universalist Church was held last Sunday, 2 p.m., at the Poulsbo Library, 700 Lincoln Road NE.

“We’re creating a family-oriented liberal religious community, where people can engage in a free and responsible search for truth and meaning, unconstrained by religious dogma,” said Nancy Evans-Jones, a Kingston resident and spokeswoman for the new group. “It will be a community with shared values based on religious tolerance, social justice and respect for individual human worth and dignity, regardless of beliefs, race or sexual orientation.”

The North Kitsap UU Church initial service, entitled Beginnings, will be conducted by Kim Beyer-Nelson, who holds a master’s degree in comparative religion and a graduate certificate in holistic healthcare.
