Motorcyclist dies in Silverdale crash

A 29-year-old motorcyclist from Silverdale was killed July 3 following a collision on Silverdale Way Northwest. Kitsap County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the accident.

Two off-duty firefighters living nearby the accident heard the crash at 9:45 p.m. and rendered first aid, followed up by a deputy sheriff and emergency crews. The motorcyclist, pronounced dead at the scene, was identified as Trevor David Sauers.

The motorcylist, riding a 2019 Kawasaki Ninja 400, was observed by witnesses traveling southbound in the 8700 block of Silverdale Way NW at a high rate of speed, according to the sheriff’s office accident report. The rider then struck the rear of a southbound vehicle. Upon impact, the motorcyclist struck the rear window and roof of the 2006 Suzuki Aerio sedan before landing on the car’s windshield. The motorcyclist fell off the side of the car as the driver was attempting to slow down.

After the crash, the motorcycle fell on its side and slid to a stop at the center of the roadway. A northbound vehicle, a 2011 Hyundai Sonata, was unable to avoid the motorcycle as it lay in the middle of the road and struck it, according to the sheriff’s office report.
