An intoxicated man who sprayed bear mace at a father and his two children was in Kitsap County Jail on $450,000 bail.

The 40-year-old Silverdale man was in Superior Court July 7 charged with three crimes of second-degree assault for spraying the bear mace on the Fourth of July.

He faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine on each count.

Court papers say Kitsap deputies arrested the man at 9:15 p.m. in the 3700 block of NW Munson Street in Silverdale. The victim was walking with his 13- and 11-year-old children when he was confronted by a man who sprayed them with bear mace. The older child had redness, swelling and irritation on his face and eyes and said he felt intense burning.

The suspect was intoxicated and said they were trespassing, although they were not on his yard.

Woman breaks foot; man won’t help her

A man who pushed his girlfriend into a river and refused to help her out for 10 minutes was in the county jail.

The 36-year-old man from Belfair was in Superior Court July 7 charged with two counts of assault. He faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine on each count.

Court papers say Kitsap deputies arrested the man July 4 at 9:49 a.m. They had been dispatched to the 10300 block of Silverdale Way NW. A woman said she had been assaulted several times the previous three days by her boyfriend of four years. She was spit on, strangled, hit in the arm repeatedly and shoved into a river and broke her foot. He took her phone and would not let her call 911. After two hours, he finally took her to a hospital.

Man throws woman’s dinner on ground, strangles her

A man who threw a woman’s dinner to the ground before strangling her was in Superior Court July 7.

The 25-year-old Bremerton man was charged with four crimes. He faces life in prison and a $50,000 fine for burglary; 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine for assault; five years in prison and a $10,000 fine for violation of a court order; and one year in jail and a $5,000 fine for fourth-degree assault.

Court documents show that Bremerton police arrested the man July 3 at 10:55 p.m. on Hefner Street. The suspect entered a home illegally, strangled a woman, stole her phone and broke her window, twisted another person’s leg and assaulted another person as he tried to escape.

The suspect and victim have a history of strangulation, so there’s a protection order.

The victim said she was eating dinner when he came in, threw her food on the ground and strangled her, dragging her to the couch. He then twisted his daughter’s leg. The male victim went after the suspect and was thrown to the ground. But then he was able to pin the suspect to the pavement until officers arrived.

The suspect denied the charges and said he was only there to give his daughter $500.

Man molested girlfriend’s daughter 7 years ago

A man who sexually molested his ex-girlfriend’s daughter seven years ago when she was in the fifth grade was in Superior Court July 10.

The daughter said while getting dressed for school, she saw his phone hidden behind some stuffed animals, recording her.

The 41-year-old Bremerton man was arrested on a warrant from last month for child molestation. He faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. Bail was $75,000.

Court documents say Kitsap deputies were told by a mother Nov. 9, 2024 that her daughter was sexually molested seven years ago by her ex-boyfriend. The daughter had reported it to a school counselor.

Officials were unable to track down the suspect until recently.

Woman tries to steal 50-foot-long tugboat

A woman who set a 50-foot boat adrift last week was arrested trying to steal it July 10.

The 54-year-old woman was in Superior Court July 11 charged with burglary and motor vehicle theft.

She faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine for each crime. Bail was $110,000.

Court documents show that Bremerton police arrested the woman July 10 at 10:49 a.m. in the 100 block of Washington Beach Avenue. She was untieing a 50-foot-long tugboat in an attempt to steal it. The week before, the same woman untied the boat and let it float into the marina until someone secured it.

Man threatens witness with gun he took

A 30-year-old Bremerton man was in Superior Court July 7 charged with intimidating a witness and violation of a court order.

Bail was $60,000. He faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine on the first charge and five years and $10,000 in fines for the second.

Court records show that Bremerton police went to Acorn Street, where the suspect was assaulting the victim on the road. A witness said the woman wanted a gun back, so the man hit her about four times in the face. The suspect then took the gun, pointed it at the witness and threatened him.

Man threatens others with knife

A 43-year-old man from Shelton was in Superior Court July 7 charged with harassment threat to kill.

He faces five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Court papers say Kitsap deputies arrested the man July 5 at 5:37 p.m. in the 4400 block of Meadow Place SE in Port Orchard.

The suspect was threatening residents with a knife. Witnesses said the suspect just walked up to the property and started cussing at them. One said the suspect had threatened him with text messages in previous days. Another witness said the suspect kicked her.

Car deal was too good to be true

A 34-year-old Bremerton woman was in Superior Court July 8 charged with possession of a stolen vehicle. Bail was $50,000. She faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.

Court documents say Kitsap deputies responded to a burglary July 3 at noon in the 8600 block of NE W. Kingston Road in Kingston. Some neighbors, who watered plants when the couple was away, said it looked like the house had been burglarized. Officers saw that about every room had been picked through. A wine bottle left in the middle of a bed was taken to look for fingerprints. Two vehicles were stolen, but without the owners, it was tough to figure out what else was gone.

On July 7 at 11:11 a.m., one of the vehicles was found in the 9500 block of Ridgetop Boulevard NW in Silverdale. Two people were passed out in it. The woman in the driver’s seat said the passenger bought the vehicle for $400. She agreed the deal seemed to be good to be true.

Shotgun pointed at man in road rage incident

A 55-year-old Port Orchard man was in Superior Court July 11 after pointing a shotgun at another man during a road rage incident.

He was charged with assault and possession of meth. Bail was $112,000. He faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.

Court papers say Kitsap deputies arrested the man July 10 at 1:42 p.m. at the intersection of Hoover and Seiford avenues SE in Port Orchard. The victim said the suspect pointed a shotgun at him during a road rage incident. When making the arrest, 10.3 grams of meth were found on the suspect.

After fight, man takes off with her car

A 56-year-old Bremerton man was in Superior Court July 7 charged with taking a vehicle without permission.

Bail was $50,000. He faces five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Court records say Bremerton police arrested the man July 3 at 4:58 p.m. on Wheaton Way in Bremerton.

The victim said the suspect took her vehicle after a dispute. They had been dating for two weeks and both lived in a recovery house. She was driving when an argument escalated into a screaming match, and he threatened to kill her. She pulled over, got out of the car, and he took off in it.

Man with rifle, pistol arrested for assault

A 54-year-old Bremerton man was in Superior Court July 9 charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

He faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.

Court documents say that Port Orchard police arrested the man July 5 at 1:56 a.m. in the 900 block of Dekalb Street in Port Orchard.

The victim had been drinking and was upset and said she and her sister needed help and that the suspect had a gun. Her son appeared with an AR-style rifle pointed at his chest and a pistol in his other hand. He dropped the guns when ordered by police.
