POULSBO — Labor Day weekend won’t be a time of rest for the Poulsbo Lions Club, as it once again presents its fund-raising antique show and sale.

This is the second year the Lions have put on the sale, which raises money for the club’s many philanthropic projects throughout the year. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1 at the Poulsbo Armory.

Last year’s inaugural event drew about 1,000 people and raised $2,500 for the Lions for projects like scholarships (they awarded $6,500 in scholarships last year), buying eye glasses for those in need, upkeep of Lions Park and general donations to causes like the Miss Viking Fest scholarship program.

“It’s been a plethora of community projects,” said Chuck Weaver of the Poulsbo Lions Club.

The sale will feature 18 independent vendors from across the state selling antiquities of all categories. One notable vendor who will be attending is Nurse Betty from Vancouver who shows and sells antique dolls, some of which are worth up to $20,000.

Weaver said he’s always impressed by the quality of products and the way the vendors set up their wares for public viewing.

“It’s just amazing what they do to that armory,” Weaver noted. “When they’re done, it doesn’t come close to resembling what it is. It’s a very professional production.”
