Kitsap 911 for this week

Here's a couple of local police reports for your reading enjoyment

Man charged with assaulting pregnant girlfriend

Ferndale resident Tyler James Webster, 20, has been charged in Kitsap County District Court with assault in the fourth degree with a special allegation of domestic violence.

Webster was arrested following an alleged disturbance at a home in the 2500 block McWilliams Road. Kitsap  County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the home following an 911 call at 11:45 p.m. Oct. 23 from the alleged victim’s mother.

According to a probable cause statement, Webster was restraining his girlfriend, who is two months pregnant. She had no visible injuries but was on a couch and he was refusing to let her go. She told deputies that Webster had been drinking and arguing with her for a couple of hours.

The alleged victim told police that she punched Webster in the face, but he still would not let her off the couch. She told police that at one point she grabbed a six-inch dull knife because she was scared. She also said she had not been drinking and deputies could not smell any alcohol on her breath.

While deputies were speaking with alleged victim, Webster was reportedly yelling profanities and racial slurs. He refused to make any statement and “continued to yell things like, ‘Go ahead and take me to jail’ and ‘Just shoot me or taser me,’” according to the probable cause statement.

Police say the victim began to change her story and said Webster only refused to let her go after she punched him. The victim’s mother, though, told police that Webster had held his daughter down for 15 minutes and pulled her hair. The woman also said she thought her daughter was going to stab Webster, so she took the knife from her daughter and returned it to the kitchen.

The probable cause statement says that after Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue showed up, Webster began to yell racial slurs and profanities at them. Webster was taken to Harrison and evaluated before being transferred to the jail.

Man threatens to harm himself

Bremerton police responded to the 2600 block of Cherry Street at 9:18 a.m. Oct. 28 following reports of a distraught man with a handgun threatening to harm himself.

Captain Tom Wolfe said the 59-year-old Port Orchard man was at a doctor’s office seeking pain medication and became agitated when none was available.

“So, he took a gun out and put it in his mouth and the person working with him left room and sought help,” Wolfe said.

The man left the building and gave the handgun to his wife before police arrived, Wolfe said. When officers confronted the man, he reached for his ankle to display an empty holster, Wolfe said.
