Kitchen fire kills dog, causes $125,000 in damage

Central Kitsap firefighters began the new year by extinguishing a fire that caused major damage to a single story Tracyton home at 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 1.

Central Kitsap firefighters began the new year by extinguishing a fire that caused major damage to a single story Tracyton home at 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 1.

According to the Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue, the owner was not home at the time of the fire, but one of two dogs inside the residence died during the blaze.

The home is located on the 6,000 block of Silver Beach Drive NW.

There was extensive fire damage to both the kitchen and attic with significant smoke damage throught the entire structure. The loss was estimated to be $125,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A total of 32 fire personnel and 17 vehicles from Bremerton, Puget Sound Federal Fire and the Poulsbo Fire Department worked to fight the fire.
