KCSO: Hansville man arrested after shooting at police

No injuries reported

A Hansville man is in custody after he allegedly fired shots at Kitsap County sheriff’s deputies and Poulsbo police officers May 31.

The deputies and officers were responding to a 911 call of shots fired at a neighboring property by a man standing on the porch of a residence in the 35000 block of Little Boston Rd. NE around 9:40 p.m., a Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post says.

When they arrived at the location about 15 minutes later, they spotted the man in the driveway. As law enforcement approached and identified themselves, the man stated he had a gun and then ran back inside. Seconds later, the deputies and officers reported about seven shots fired in their direction. They took cover behind a vehicle in the driveway and radioed for backup.

A KCSO Swat Team was dispatched to the scene. Team members positioned an armored vehicle near the home and attempted to communicate with the barricaded man using a public address system, per KCSO. The man came to the door at one point during the standoff but retreated into the residence.

Around 1:30 a.m., Swat Team members deployed flash-bang devices and chemical irritants into the home. The man then surrendered and was taken into custody. There were no injuries. The incident is under investigation.
