BREMERTON — Jerry Allen Courtier died Feb. 15 at the Hospice Center in Bremerton. He was 77.

Jerry was born on April 29, 1934 in Renton. He was a Korean War veteran. He deeply respected veterans; for many years he published a nationally recognized award-winning newsletter for an American Legion Post.

An electronics and computer expert, Jerry worked with Dr. Michael DeBakey in heart transplant technology. A volunteer fireman in Maryland, Jerry was awarded a Fire Department Medal of Honor for rescuing a 2-year-old baby from a burning home. A world traveler, Jerry owned a Haitian art gallery in Cleveland.

Our dear father and uncle is survived by children Jacqualine Courtier, Michael Courtier, Joel Courtier, Seattle; nieces Connie Lord, Pat Rouse, Poulsbo; nephew Chuck Courtier, Bainbridge Island; his beloved Maine Coon Trooper; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Alpheus and Lurenda Courtier and six brothers, Richard, John, Al, Bob, Charlie, and Gene.

Private services will be held at a later date; interment at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent.
