It’s Election Day.

Your ballot must be postmarked by Tuesday or deposited into a 24-hour ballot drop box by 8 p.m.

Several candidates, such as Poulsbo Mayor Becky Erickson, are running unopposed and can look forward to another term in office. Ditto in local fire and park districts. Voters have a choice in who will make decisions on their behalf regarding education and management of ports. Cindy Webster-Martinson, a teacher and former Suquamish Tribal Council member, is poised to make history Tuesday as the first Native American elected to the North Kitsap School Board.

Voters will also decide whether to continue paying a property tax that supports EMS services in Poulsbo and North Kitsap fire protection districts. Indianola voters will decide whether to increase their property tax to pay for improvements and maintenance of the iconic, historic dock.

NorthKitsapHerald.com and KingstonCommunityNews.com will post election coverage at approximately 8:15 p.m. Election results will also be available on the Kitsap County Auditor Elections Division website.

As of Nov. 4, 29.24 percent of the county’s 153,684 voters had submitted their ballots. Still, County Auditor Walt Washington, the county’s top elections official, predicted a 50 percent voter turnout, according to his department website.
