The former Linens ‘n Things building is vacant no longer.
Seattle Goodwill spokeswoman Betsy McFeely said Goodwill has leased the 33,400-square-foot space in Silverdale and plans to open a store in August.
“We thought it was a great opportunity,” McFeely said.
McFeely said Seattle Goodwill signed the lease a week or two ago and construction is already underway on the facility, located at 10001 Mickelberry Road NW across from Costco.
“I know they’re already working on it and construction is underway,” McFeely said.
She said the Silverdale Goodwill location will include a retail store, donation center and job training and education center.
“Silverdale is certainly an active area. It’s a great retail location,” McFeely said.
A 28-foot Goodwill donation trailer was set up in the Kitsap Mall parking lot for years, but they were forced to close up shop in 2007 because they needed a larger location and Kitsap Mall needed the space as the holidays approached.
McFeely said the donation trailer was very active and Seattle Goodwill knew they wanted to have a location in Silverdale again.
“The community was very supportive and active there,” she said.
McFeely said the Silverdale Goodwill is scheduled to open sometime in August, but people can start bringing donations to the area as early as next week.
“In the meantime, we’re going to be putting a large donation trailer in the parking lot next week,” she said.
The Silverdale store will be Kitsap County’s third Goodwill location, joining Bremerton and Port Orchard.
