GHAAC members learn more about land and water trails; next meeting Jan. 10 | GHAAC Notes

John Kuntz of Olympic Outdoor Center in Port Gamble spoke about the extensive water trails in North Kitsap. Information is available at: www.olympicoutdoorcenter.com.

Rebecca Pirtle, Kitsap County volunteer coordinator, and Scott Diener, Kitsap County Planning Department, spoke to the group about policies and procedures for advisory groups and commissions. GHAAC voted to adopt the parliamentary procedures as outlined in the booklet, “Kitsap County Board and Commissions Training 2007.” This booklet and other information on advisory groups is available online at www.kitsapgov.com/boards/#Community_Advisory_Groups.

Future GHAAC meetings will begin at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be Jan. 10, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. at the Greater Hansville Community Center. Scheduled to speak are Jeff Shea, county traffic engineer, on a planned survey of speeds and safety devices in our area; and Sandra Staples-Bortner, executive director of the Great Peninsula Conservancy, on conservation plans for Pope Resources’ land in North Kitsap.
