George Winston’s Sept. 13 sold-out concert at Gateway Fellowship raised more than $11,000 for the church’s local ministries of service.

POULSBO — George Winston’s Sept. 13 sold-out concert at Gateway Fellowship raised more than $11,000 for the church’s local ministries of service.

According to the church, proceeds will be used to expand the fifth annual Operation Day of Hope, Oct. 17.

“Challenging economic times continue to impact the residents of north Kitsap and Poulsbo. There are still many homeless, hurting, hungry, and disenfranchised people throughout our area,” Pastor Dave Fischer said.

“Operation Day of Hope provides a variety of complimentary human services for those in need. This is Gateway’s way of showing how much we care by providing anyone who is in need an opportunity to receive free services and the support that may need.”

Operation Day of Hope services include health care screenings, haircuts, medical, dental treatments, legal advice, fresh groceries, family photographs and gently worn adult and children’s clothing. There is no charge. A hot meal will be provided for everyone throughout the day.

Volunteers will be on hand to explain and escort all participants through the process throughout the day. Spanish-speaking translators will also be available.

“As a result of the Winston concert, we able to grow our Operation Day of Hope program this year,” Lead Pastor Tom Duchemin said.

“We sincerely hope that the entire community attends this event and learns more about how we can all work together to aide those in need and less fortunate than us ” .
