Climber rescued off Green Mountain

Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue had two engines, one medic unit, one rescue truck and the duty chief on scene.

 

Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue received a call in reference to an injured climber at the Green Mountain climbing wall Oct.r 5, at approximately 1:30 pm, according to sources at the district.

Crews responded and began the mile and a half hike to the wall. Due to the heavy brush and extended hike time the decision was made to call for assistance from the Whidbey Island Naval Air Station.

Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue crews arrived on scene and Whidbey Island NAS hoisted the climber into their helicopter with a Stokes basket.

Kitsap County Search and Rescue and the Kitsap County Sheriff Office had also responded to the trailhead as a precaution.
