Four people escape injury in crash at State Route 307 and Sugar Plum Drive

POULSBO — Four people escaped injury when a pickup and a sedan collided at State Route 307 and Sugar Plum Drive NE, Nov. 17 at 4:40 p.m.

The site is one-half mile north of Poulsbo.

According to Washington State Patrol, a 1996 Ford F350 truck towing a wood chipper trailer was northbound on SR 307, approaching Sugar Plum Drive NE. A 2005 Honda Accord four-door was southbound on SR 307, approaching Sugar Plum Drive NE. Northbound traffic was stopped at Sugar Plum Drive NE waiting for a vehicle to turn left. The F350 truck was not able to stop in time and swerved to the left, crossing over the center line and striking the Honda Accord in the southbound lane. The Honda Accord was pushed into the guardrail.

Traffic in the southbound lane was blocked for approximately one hour.

The cause of the crash was determined to be defective equipment, according to  Washington State Patrol.
